ToHealth provide both HSE diving medicals and recreational diving medicals. Diving whether for work or recreation makes physical and mental demands on the diver. To promote safety and reduce the risks associated with diving the Diving at Work Regulations were introduced in 1997. These are administered and enforced by the Health and Safety executive.
Your certificate is signed off by our doctor who is on the Approved List of Medical Examiners for Divers (AMEDs).
Under the regulations, all people who dive at work must have a valid certificate of fitness to dive (MA2) issued by an AMED Doctor.
Whether you are being assessed for the first time or renewing an existing certificate, ToHealth can provide the assessment of whether you are fit to dive.
Any illness or injury during your diving career may affect your fitness to work. Following certain conditions (eg any lung, heart, brain, nervous system, ear, nose or throat disorder, including decompression illness, or any illness or injury requiring you to be off work for more than 14 days), you must be re-examined by an AMED to assess your fitness to return to work. This involves a specific assessment of the possible effects of your illness or injury on diving safety and your ability to work as a diver.
If you are recreational diver but would answer yes to any of conditions on the PADI or BSAC self certification forms, you will need to have a medical certificate before diving. Some diving centres in holiday destinations require a medical check up before you can dive.
By choosing ToHealth you can be assured of a fully compliant HSE medical consisting of the below tests:
Resting blood pressure
Audiometry (initial only)
Review with AMED doctor
£125 – HSE Medical Initial
£80 – HSE Medical Renewal
£60 – Recreational Diving Renewal
Please note that if clinically indicated, your doctor may request a chest X-Ray, a resting ECG and blood tests. These are not included in the price above and if needed, the costs will be agreed before you continue.
