Blood Pressure Checks

We will measure your blood pressure with a blood pressure cuff, which is placed around your upper arm then inflates and deflates to give a reading. Blood pressure should be approximately less than 140/60-80.

We will explain what these figures mean and explain how they can be affected and improved through various lifestyle influences.

Metabolic Age Game

Metabolic age is different from chronological age. Your chronological age is your age by calendar years, while metabolic age depends on your metabolism or overall chemical processes of the body, which is based on your health. If your metabolic age is lower than your chronological age, you are fitter or in better health than average. If your metabolic age is higher than your chronological age, you are less fit and healthy than average.

This game is a fun way of comparing your results with your colleagues and assists in getting staff to think about their overall health and to understand what steps they should be taking to lowering their metabolic age. Often our clients will offer a prize to those staff that can guess their metabolic age as a way of encouraging staff to give it a try.

batakBatak Wall

The Batak Wall is specifically designed to test your reaction, hand eye co-ordination and stamina by enabling you to get the experience of how sportsmen and women to train under simulated ‘sports like’ conditions, whilst also providing an element of fun and competition that is so often lacking in training.

This activity is one of our most engaging activities, we find it becomes very competitive between staff, which is a great thing as employee engagement is very high with this activity.

Again our clients often offer a prize for the highest score to encourage staff to take part and either have fun or compete with their colleagues.

Juice Bike

This is a fun activity that promotes exercise as well as fruit consumption. There is a stationary bike with a food blender attached, fruit and other ingredients are put into the blender and someone gets on the bike. The blender mixes the fruits as the individual pedals and the benefits of exercise and ‘five a day’ can be discussed.

This is a very popular activity as staff are rewarded with a healthy smoothie that takes just a few minutes to prepare. Staff feel rewarded and refreshed after this activity.

Mole and Skin Cancer Check

During a skin check, a discussion would be made around the patient’s skin history and their pre-existing moles and the nurse would make them aware of any moles that they might not be aware of. The nurse will check their moles for any colour changes, the blood vessels going into them, any discharge, hardening or any pain that could indicate cancer. Advice and recommendations for next steps would then be made, including sun screen application and staying out of strong sun.

More and more employers are taking Mole and Skin Cancer checks seriously, this is a great way for staff to be assessed and be provided with a GP Referral if required. Often staff ignore this serious issue and by providing this service often staff will have an assessment because of the convenience.

hearingRelaxation Massages (Stress Reduction)

This service brings many benefits to the individual such as helping to alleviate back and shoulder pain. Reducing blood pressure and relaxing the nervous system. Stretches can also improve range of motion and circulation which strengthens the immune system. These benefits have been shown to improve alertness and concentration.

Lung Function Testing

Lung function testing is a quick and easy test to determine how well our lungs work. Immediate results are produced to show whether there are any blockages in the airwaves, a lung age is calculated and a chronic obstructive disease (COPD) classification is determined. COPD is a progressive disease which makes it hard to breathe and results in our bodies not getting enough oxygen.

It can cause coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath and chest tightening. The leading cause of COPD is cigarette smoking and long term exposure to lung irritants such as air pollution, chemical fumes or dust. Feedback and advice is provided to help reduce the risk.

hearingHearing Testing

Hearing testing is used to assess your ability to hear sound at different volumes and frequencies. This information can be used to determine whether there is any damage or impairment to hearing. We can then provide feedback and protective advice to maintain ear health and guidance for any hearing that has been affected.

This service is very popular in particular with those organisations that have staff working in noisy environments.
